Welcome to Thompson’s Car Rental. By renting a vehicle or using our website, you agree to the Terms & Conditions outlined below. Please read them carefully before confirming your booking.
1. General Agreement
By renting a vehicle from Thompson’s Car Rental (“we,” “us,” “our”), you (“the renter,” “the customer”) agree to comply with all Bahamian laws, local traffic rules, and the policies stated in this agreement.
These Terms & Conditions apply to:
- All vehicle rentals
- Bookings made online, by phone, or in person
- Payments and deposits
- Use of our website
2. Rental Requirements
To rent a vehicle from Thompson’s Car Rental, customers must:
- Be at least 25 years old (or applicable minimum age policy).
- Hold a valid driver’s license (Bahamian or International).
- Present a valid government-issued ID (Passport or National ID).
- Provide a valid credit card or approved payment method.
We reserve the right to refuse service if requirements are not met or if we believe the rental may pose a risk to the vehicle or public safety.
3. Vehicle Condition & Renter Responsibility
The renter agrees to:
- Inspect the vehicle for pre-existing damage before leaving the rental location.
- Drive responsibly and follow all Bahamian traffic laws.
- Return the vehicle in the same condition it was received (normal wear and tear excepted).
The renter must NOT:
- Allow unauthorized drivers to operate the vehicle.
- Use the vehicle for illegal activity.
- Use the vehicle for racing, towing, or off-road driving.
- Drive while impaired by alcohol, drugs, or medication.
Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these terms will be the renter’s full financial responsibility.
4. Insurance & Liability
Our vehicles include basic insurance coverage as required by Bahamian law. Additional optional coverage may be available at an extra cost.
The renter is financially responsible for:
- Insurance deductibles.
- Damage not covered by the insurance policy.
- Loss or damage to keys or fobs.
- Interior damage, spills, or upholstery burns.
- Damage to tires, rims, and windshields.
- Accidents resulting from negligent or prohibited behavior.
Insurance coverage will be VOIDED if:
- An unauthorized driver operates the vehicle.
- The renter drives under the influence.
- The vehicle is used in violation of this Agreement.
5. Payments & Deposits
A security deposit is required at the time of pickup.
Accepted methods include:
- Credit card
- Debit card (subject to approval)
- Cash (subject to additional verification/local renter policy)
The deposit will be refunded after the vehicle is returned in acceptable condition, minus any deductions for:
- Damage repair costs
- Cleaning fees (if applicable)
- Refueling charges
- Late return fees
All rental charges must be paid in full before or at the time of vehicle pickup unless a prior credit arrangement has been approved.
6. Cancellations & No-Show Policy
Cancellations:
- Customers may cancel their booking based on the specific cancellation policy provided at the time of reservation.
- Cancellations made less than 24 hours (or agreed timeframe) before pickup may be subject to a fee.
No-Show:
- If the customer does not arrive at the scheduled pickup time and fails to contact us, the reservation may be canceled without a refund.
7. Late Returns
If a vehicle is returned later than the agreed date and time:
- A late fee will apply.
- Additional rental days will be charged at the current daily rate.
If you require an extension, please notify us prior to the return time to confirm availability. Unapproved extensions may result in the vehicle being reported stolen.
8. Cleanliness & Smoking Policy
To maintain high-quality standards for all future renters:
- Smoking is strictly prohibited in all vehicles.
- Excessive dirt, sand, wet upholstery, pet hair, or trash left in the vehicle will result in a Cleaning Fee.
9. Breakdown, Accidents & Emergency Procedures
In the event of a breakdown or accident:
- Contact us immediately at the number provided below.
- Do not abandon the vehicle.
- Call the Royal Bahamas Police Force immediately if there is an accident or injury.
- Obtain necessary police reports and accident documentation.
Failure to follow these procedures may void insurance coverage and leave the renter liable for all damages.
10. Website Usage Terms
By using our website, you agree not to:
- Submit false or fraudulent reservations.
- Attempt unauthorized access to our systems.
- Reproduce or misuse website content, branding, or images.
All content on the site is the property of Thompson’s Car Rental unless otherwise stated.
11. Privacy & Data Protection
We respect your privacy. Information collected is used strictly for:
- Booking and rental processing.
- Identity verification and security.
- Customer communication regarding your rental.
We do not sell or share your information with third parties except where required by law or for insurance processing.
12. Limitation of Liability
Thompson’s Car Rental is not responsible for:
- Lost or stolen personal property left in the vehicle.
- Travel delays caused by weather, road conditions, or mechanical issues.
- Indirect or consequential damages (e.g., missed flights).
Our maximum liability is strictly limited to the total amount paid for the rental service.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions periodically. The most recent version will always be posted on our website or available at the rental counter.
